Alabama is a +225 ‘chalk’ to repeat as national champs

Kadarius Toney and the Gators have 75/1 odds to win the CFP during Dan Mullen’s first season at UF in 2018.

Alabama is the +225 favorite to win the 2018 College Football Playoff, meaning bettors can win $225 on a $100 wager if the Crimson Tide wins a sixth national title on Nick Saban’s watch.

Before listing the odds for most FBS schools, I want to share a little bit of college football news:

–A report from the Seattle Times today indicated that Georgia QB Jacob Eason is leaning heavily toward transferring to Washington to play for Chris Petersen. Jake Browning is a rising senior, so he would be gone after Eason sits out 2018 due to transfer rules. Eason is from Lake Stevens, Washington. He threw for 2,430 yards with a 16/8 touchdown-to-interception ratio as a true freshman in 2016. Eason sprained his knee in the first quarter of a 31-10 season-opening win over Appalachian St. He was out for a month and true freshman Jake Fromm took over during that stretch and never relinquished his job.

–I’m told Stanford star RB Bryce Love is expected to return for his senior season.

–John Chavis was announced as the new defensive coordinator for Arkansas today. Chavis cut his teeth as Phil Fulmer’s DC for more than a decade before taking the same position at LSU. He left LSU for Texas A&M, so Arkansas will be his fourth stop at an SEC school.

–Andre ‘Bad Moon’ Rison says his son Hunter is transferring from his alma mater, Michigan St. Hunter Rison, a four-star signee in the 2017 class, caught 19 balls for 224 yards as a true freshman.

–UCF’s back-up QB Noah Vedral, who accounted for 353 yards from scrimmage and three TDs as a true freshman, is following Scott Frost to Nebraska. He’s transfer and sit out the 2018 campaign.

–FSU defensive end Jalen Wilkerson is leaving school early to enter the NFL Draft. Wilkerson had 19 tackles and six tackles for loss for the Seminoles in 2017.
