–Best wishes to Gary Pinkel, who announced Friday that he’ll retire at the end of the season due to health concerns. The Missouri head coach was diagnosed with lymphoma in May. Pinkel led the Tigers to a pair of SEC East titles in their first three season in the league. They’ll take on BYU as underdogs Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

My take on all the SEC games this week at SaturdayDownSouth.com.

–Arkansas has gone 23 consecutive possessions without a three and out. Damn that’s impressive! (Hat Tip to Chris Vernon for that stat.)

–Mississippi St. owns a 4-1 spread record in its last five games as a home underdog.

–Oregon has been an underdog just four times since 2011, compiling a 4-0 spread record. The Ducks are nine-point underdogs at Stanford.

–Vanderbilt is favored for just the second time this season vs. Kentucky. The Commodores, who are three-point ‘chalk,’ are 1-4 ATS when favored since Derek Mason took over.

–The ‘under’ remains unscathed in Vandy games with an 8-0-1 record. The total vs. UK is 40 points.

–After losing 23-21 to Va. Tech as a two-point home favorite Thursday night on The Flats, Ga. Tech fell to 3-7. The most astounding thing about this dismal season for the Yellow Jackets is that they’ve been favored in eight of those 10 games.
