UPDATE: You can see a local TV station filming Jones’ leaving jail (holding a sheet of notebook paper over his face?!) after making bail very late last night or early this morning at this link (scroll to bottom).

The Albuquerque Police department announced that Jon Jones was in custody at 9:42 p.m. Eastern. He is being held on $2,500 bail.

According to multiple reports, there’s a chance Jones could avoid jail time if it can’t be proven that he was driving while impaired. He will have to reach a monetary settlement for the victim, a woman who was pregnant.

She suffered a broken arm and Jones is being charged with felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Jones is scheduled to defend his light heavyweight championship for the ninth time at UFC 187 next month. Whether he will or won’t is still to be determined, but it seems highly unlikely.

If Jones is stripped of his belt, there’s the possibility that Daniel Cormier could fight Anthony Johnson for the interim title at UFC 187. That’s assuming Cormier is confident he can make weight. He is currently scheduled to fight two weeks later in a main-event bout vs. Ryan Bader in New Orleans.
