Louisville senior PG Chris Jones was kicked off the team on Sunday.

In a move that almost certainly dashes any realistic hopes of winning a national title this season, Louisville dismissed its starting point guard Chris Jones from the program earlier today.

Jones had been suspended by the University for one game earlier this week. When the Cardinals lost at Syracuse without Jones, Rick Pitino blamed the loss on his PG and made reference to Jones playing his next game in Belgium if he didn’t tighten up his act.

Then on Friday, Jones was reinstated and everything appeared to be good. Jones played Saturday and helped U of L to a comeback win over Miami. Although he came off the bench against the Hurricanes, Jones logged 36 minutes and produced 17 points and five rebounds.

Jones was averaging 13.7 points and 3.6 assists per game. He was the Cardinals’ third-leading scorer and top assists man.

The school didn’t have any further comment on Sunday.
