FSU’s Winston suspended for 1st half vs. Clemson

Florida St. sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston hasn’t been a stranger to off-the-field trouble during his time in Tallahassee. However, it hasn’t cost him any playing time on the football field until now.

There was no discipline for Winston during the investigation for sexual assault last season that didn’t result in any criminal charges. When he was cited for shoplifting crab legs last spring, he served a short suspension from Mike Martin and the baseball team.

But Winston’s latest transgression will cost him the first half of Saturday’s night’s crucial ACC showdown against Clemson, the school announced earlier today.

Jameis Winston's off-the-field behavior has finally netted him some punishment from Jimbo Fisher.

You can get more details on the situation in this summation from CBSSports.com. Deadspin also collected tweets from students who witnessed Winston using vulgar language on campus Tuesday.

With Jacob Coker at Alabama after transferring, the back-up job and this week’s starting assignment goes to third-year sophomore Sean Maguire, who saw playing time in mop-up duty in 2013. Maguire completed 13-of-21 passes for 116 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and two interceptions.

The Seminoles had been favored by 19.5 or 20 at most betting shops. The game is now off the board.
