Florida guard Scottie Wilbekin has been suspended indefintely for a violation of team rules, the school announced on Monday.

The rising senior point guard averaged 9.1 points and 5.0 assists this past season, helping the Gators to a third consecutive Elite Eight appearance.

Wilbekin is considered one of the nation’s premier perimeter defenders. This is his second suspension in eight months, as he missed the first three games of the 2012-2013 campaign.

Wilbekin’s early-season absence will most likely result in freshman Kasey Hill moving into the starting lineup. Hill is a five-star recruit from out of the Orlando area.

Most books have Florida with 12/1 odds to win the national championship.
