Two starters from Ragin’ Cajuns enter transfer portal

Louisiana CB Mekhi Garner has entered the transfer portal after helping the Ragin’ Cajuns to 13 straight wins.

Louisiana starting offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence and cornerback Mekhi Garner both entered the transfer portal earlier today.

Torrence was a three-year starter for the Ragin’ Cajuns under new Florida head coach Billy Napier. He was a second-team All-Sun Belt conference selection in 2020.

Back in August of 2021, ESPN named Torrence to its Top-100 players in all of college football. He lived up to that billing this past season, garnering first-team All-SBC honors while helping UL finish the year with 13 straight wins.

Gardner was a third-team All-SBC pick in 2021. He recorded 31 tackles, eight passes broken up, 2.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

In 2020, Garner started eight times and played in all 11 games during a 10-1 season. He produced 27 tackles, seven PBU, three interceptions, one sack and one forced fumble.

I would expect that both players are planning to unite with Napier in Gainesville. Torrence and Garner will both have two years of eligibility remaining.
