Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway has withdrawn from his UFC 226 showdown vs. Brian ‘T-City’ Ortega due to concussion-like symptoms. The news broke late last night and I filed this story to VegasInsider.com earlier today.
The UFC just released a statement that you can see below:
Featherweight champion Max Holloway is out of his scheduled bout against Brian Ortega due to injury and the fight has been removed from Saturday’s UFC 226 card. Stepping into the co-main event position is a highly-anticipated heavyweight bout featuring No. 1-ranked Francis Ngannou and No. 5-ranked Derrick Lewis. The bout featuring Paul Felder and Mike Perry will move to the main card.
There’s a presser scheduled for today at 6:00 p.m. Eastern.
Former featherweight champ Conor McGregor chimed in on social media to offer positive thoughts towards Holloway, who has won 12 fights in a row since losing to McGregor in Boston at the age of 21.
My thoughts and my respect are with 145lb World Champion Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway.
