Wagers/Notes and fire-hot picks for Wednesday!

Say Cheese! Florida dropped Missouri 77-75 this past Saturday on Chris Chiozza’s steal and run-out layup with 0.1 seconds left. Chiozza has been upgraded to ‘probable’ for tonight’s home game vs. Mississippi St. after missing practices earlier this week with strep throat.

My college football picks went South fast in late November and during a bloodbath of a bowl season. Fortunately, I’ve bounced back with hot runs in the NFL and college hoops.

I’m currently on a 6-0 roll in the NFL, including a 3-0 record during the wild-card round with winners on the Falcons, Atlanta-L.A. ‘under’ and the Bills. You can get signed up for my NFL plays right here.

I went 4-0 in college hoops last night, including a +165 money-line winner on Boise St. in its 70-64 victory at Fresno St. Here’s what I have on the hardwood for tonight!

Since Dec. 13, my college hoops selections are on a 26-15-1 run (63.4%, +10.53 Units!).

My preview for Atlanta at Philadelphia will be filed to VegasInsider.com on Friday. Here’s my breakdown of tonight’s college basketball action over at VI. Also, VI has you all set with the NCAABK TV games through Sunday.

Other quick-hit nuggets in multiple sports are below…

–Pittsburgh Steelers LB Ryan Shazier visited his team’s practice today to give them an emotional lift ahead of Sunday’s home game vs. Jacksonville. A report last week indicated that Shazier has regained some feeling in his legs, but he was in a wheel chair at the team’s facility today. Ben Roethlisberger was intercepted by the Jags five times in a 30-9 home loss in October. That was the day the NFL was put on notice that the Jags’ defense, particularly CB Jalen Ramsey out of FSU, is nasty this year.

–Missouri QB Drew Lock announced his intentions to return for his senior season on Tuesday. Lock was a first-team All-SEC selection after throwing for 3.964 yards with a 44/13 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

–Alabama WR Calvin Ridley and RB Bo Scarbrough have foregone their senior seasons to turn pro a year early. On the bright side for the Crimson Tide (as if there’s ANY fucking downside these days!), RB Damien Harris is coming back for his senior campaign.

–College players have until Jan. 15 to declare for the NFL Draft. Stanford has lost three defensive players early, but I’m told Bryce Love is heavily leaning toward returning for his senior year to complete his degree and do a little work on the gridiron.

–Best wishes to Texas sophomore guard Andrew Jones! It was revealed today that he’s been diagnosed with leukemia and has already begun receiving treatments. The Longhorns are at home tonight vs. TCU.

–Florida point guard Chris Chiozza has been upgraded to ‘probable’ for tonight’s game vs. Mississippi St. at the O’Dome. ‘Cheese’ has missed practice time this week while dealing with strep throat. He had a steal and run-out bucket with 0.1 seconds left this past Saturday to lift the Gators to a 77-75 win at Missouri. The Gators are nine-point home favorites vs. the Bulldogs.

–The ‘under’ is on a 6-0 run for Loyola-Chicago, which played at Illinois St. tonight. The Redbirds have seen the ‘over’ hit in four straight and 10 of their last 12. The total is 138.5 points.

–Oklahoma St. is a three-point underdog tonight at Kansas St. The total is 144. After seeing the ‘under’ cash in their first nine lined games, the ‘over’ is on a 3-0 run for the Cowboys. They’re 1-4 both SU and ATS as underdogs this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPNNews.

–The ‘over’ is on a 7-2-2 run for USC, which hosts Colorado tonight. The Buffaloes are off back-to-back wins over Arizona and Arizona St. in Boulder this past weekend. They are 3-4 both SU and ATS in seven road assignments. Fox Sports 1 will have the broadcast from L.A. at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. The Trojans are 11-point ‘chalk,’ while the total is 152.

–Siena’s Nico Clareth is out for the rest of the season due to personal reasons. Clareth was averaging 15.1 points and 3.4 RPG.

–UTEP’s Keith Frazier (14.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG) has been upgraded to ‘probable’ for Thursday’s game against FAU.

–Pepperdine’s Kameron Edwards (15.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG) is ‘questionable’ for Thursday’s game at BYU (concussion). The Waves are winless in seven road assignments this year, and they’re looking to end a seven-game losing streak (regardless of the venue) in Provo. Pepperdine has seen the ‘under’ cash at a 6-2 clip in its past eight contests.

–La. Tech guard DaQuan Bracey (back) is ‘questionable’ Thursday against Middle Tennessee. Bracey is averaging 15.3 points, 5.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game for the Bulldogs.

Paige VanZant returns to the Octagon as a short, even-money underdog vs. Jessica Rose-Clark at Saturday’s UFC St. Louis card on FS1. VanZant faces Rose-Clark on the main card that starts at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.

–After two weeks off, the Octagon is back in St. Louis on Saturday night for a free 13-fight card on Fox Sports 1. Jeremy Stephens (+135) will face ‘The Korean Superboy’ Doo Ho Choi (-160) in the headliner between featherweight contenders. Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort (we think) is waging his retirement fight vs. Uriah Hall in the middleweight loop, with ‘Prime Time’ installed as a -325 ‘chalk.’ Keep an eye on perennial lightweight contender Michael Johnson’s weight cut. ‘The Menace,’ fresh off a Fight of the Year loss to Justin Gaethje, is dropping down to featherweight for the first time in his career to face Darren Elkins in the Prelims headliner. The main card starts at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on FS1, so Johnson and Elkins will likely enter the Octagon at around 9:35 p.m. Eastern. Paige Van Zant is also on the main card.

–Games Galore 30 will drop early tomorrow evening, so be sure to check it out. Go to i-tunes and subscribe, rate, etc. Thanks!

–And finally, I lost a good buddy from college a few days ago. We’d been out of touch for at least 6-7 years and I’ll always regret that. But plenty of good memories were made in the 1990s with Braden Ulrich (1974-2018). Rest in peach, my friend.
