B.E.’s bullish on IU vs. PSU tonight

Brian Edwards likes Indiana to beat Penn St. tonight in a pick ’em matchup at Assembly Hall in Bloomington.

Indiana has won three of its past four games and appears to be rounding into form in its first season under new head coach Archie Miller, who was an excellent hire after his outstanding tenure at Dayton.

The Hoosiers are off a 75-71 win at Minnesota this past Saturday. Penn St. has the better record than IU, but the Nittany Lions have played a cupcake schedule to date. They have only one win against an RPI Top-100 foe, beating Northwestern (RPI #94) at home.

Meanwhile, the Hoosiers have wins over Notre Dame (RPI #33) on a neutral court and, as previously noted, won at Minnesota (RPI #58). Senior guard Robert Johnson was the catalyst against the Gophers, producing 28 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

We have the homecourt advantage and the head-coaching edge here, so let’s go with IU. Johnson will be the best player on the court and lead us to a winner.

Most books have the game at pick ’em or PSU minus one. The Big Ten Network will have the telecast at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
