Florida landed one of the best grad transfers on the market Tuesday night when Egor Koulechov committed to UF over Oklahoma.

Egor Koulechov is the newest member of the Florida Gators basketball program.

The transfer from Rice is on track to graduate and committed to UF late Tuesday, choosing Mike White’s program over Oklahoma and former Florida coach Lon Kruger. Koulechov will be eligible immediately.

Evan Daniels of Scout.com first reported this news.

Koulechov, who started his career at Arizona St., averaged 18.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Owls in 2016-2017. He drained 47.0 percent of his launches from 3-point land.

“I just believe there’s great opportunity there,” Kourlechov told Scout. “I have a lot of faith in the staff at Florida. I really do. It’s a good team. They have high aspirations. I went to high school in south Florida. It just feels right. That connection is there. I had a great connection with the coaching staff there. I just really believe they have great coaches and I believe we can make that jump next year.”

Kourlechov grew up in Israel, but he was raised in Russia. He attended Weston Sagemont High School as a junior and senior.
