Like I always say, no news is good news this time of year in college football.

Unfortunately for Nick Saban and his Alabama football program, there’s plenty of news coming out of Tuscaloosa today.

All-American offensive tackle Cam Robinson and DB Hootie Jones were arrested on weapons and drug charges earlier this morning in their hometown of West Monroe, LA. Robinson, a rising junior who is (was?) considered a lock first-round draft pick in next spring’s NFL Draft, is one of the top players for the Crimson Tide.

According to the police report, officers approached Robinson’s parked car in a park at 2:33 a.m. and detected the smell of marijuana. A bag of weed was observed on the passenger’s side floorboard, along with a handgun on the passenger’s (Jones’) lap.

Both players were charged with misdemeanor possession of weed, but Robinson’s weapons charge is far more serious. He was in possession of a stolen handgun that was located under his driver’s side seat.

Robinson has started all 29 games since arriving on campus at Alabama. Mel Kiper’s latest Big Board for the 2017 NFL Draft had Robinson listed as the No. 7 pick.
