There was plenty of news dropping on Wednesday, including the announcement of the UFC on FOX 14 event at Tele 2 Arena in Sweden on Jan. 24. The main event will feature the native son, Alexander ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson, going up against Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson in a light-heavyweight title eliminator bout.

The winner will face the winner of Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier.

Tele 2 Arena is a soccer stadium that holds 33,000 for soccer and 45,000 for concerts. The venue has a retractable roof.

In the co-main event, Dan ‘Hendo’ Henderson is dropping down to middleweight to face Gegard Mousasi. Henderson hasn’t won a UFC fight at 185 pounds since knocking out Michael Bisping at UFC 100. He has lost four of his last five fights, including his last outing when he was submitted by Cormier.

Matt Brown has won seven of his last eight fights going into a 170-pound showdown with Tarec Saffiedine.

Also in Sweden, welterweight contenders Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine will face each other. Brown has been out since his five-round war with Robbie Lawler went against him to end his seven-fight winning streak.

In other news, just four months removed from his retirement and subsequent dismissal from his job as an analyst for Fox Sports 1, Chael Sonnen has hooked up with ESPN to become an MMA analyst.

Also, after his first-round KO loss to Ovince St. Preux, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua is considering  a drop down to middleweight.

And finally, UFC 180 will go down Saturday night in Mexico City. I’ll be filing my preview at VegasInsider.com at some point on Friday. You can check out the latest odds for the entire card below…
