Georgia suspends Todd Gurley indefinitely

In the last hour, the University of Georgia announced that it has suspended star running back Todd Gurley indefinitely pending an investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules.

“I’m obviously very disappointed,” Mark Richt said in a statement. “The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri.”

Gurley leads the SEC with 773 rushing yards and has scored eight touchdowns in UGA’s first five games. The Bulldogs play Saturday at Missouri in a crucial SEC East showdown.

The game has been taken off the board. Georgia had previously been favored by three.

With Oregon losing last week to Arizona, Gurley replaced Marcus Mariota as Sportsbook.ag’s favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this week. The offshore website had him as the +180 ‘chalk.’
