Hide the women and children. There’s going to be blood and there’s going to be violence. And if you aren’t into it, don’t put it on FOX tonight.

At long last, welterweight contender Matt Brown is on the big stage against a top-tier opponent in Robbie Lawler. Whoever survives this cage fight will get a shot at Johny Hendricks’s welterweight strap.

In a stunning development yesterday, Brown missed weight for the first time in his career. He hit the scales at 172.5 pounds, 1.5 pounds over the 171 limit for non-title fights in this division.

Brown chose to forfeit 20 percent of his purse instead of trying to shed the 1.5 pounds in a two-hour span. Or the commission didn’t allow him to try, as there were conflicting reports on this issue yesterday.

Whatever the case, the fight will go on and thank the heavens for that. Brown and Lawler are two of the best strikers in the game and we could be looking at a potential Fight of the Year candidate. One thing is a near certainty: Somebody is getting knocked the fu** out!

Here’s what I’ve decided to do from a gaming standpoint:

Daron Cruickhshank (+205) for 2 units.
Matt Brown (+300) for 1 unit.
Clay Guida (+160) for 1 unit.
Kyle Kingsbury (+160) for 1 unit.

Here are the latest odds for the 12-fight card.
