UPDATE: Brown beat Silva in a thriller by third-round KO, cashing tickets as generous as +220 at some books.

5Dimes opened Erick Silva as a -170 favorite over Matt Brown on Monday. Then on Tuesday, the number moved all the way to -250, leaving Brown as the +190 underdog at 5Dimes and SBG Global.

Silva and Brown are set to collide in the main event at UFC Fight Night 40 in Cincinnati on May 10. Brown hails from the state of Ohio and will fight in front of friends and family against the Brazilian welterweight.

Erick Silva vs Matt Brown odds - BestFightOdds

‘The Immortal’ has won six consecutive fights to garner the No. 7 ranking in the UFC’s 170-pound loop. He was poised to face Carlos Condit late last year but was forced to pull out of the bout due to a back injury.

Brown hasn’t been in the Octagon since destroying Mike Pyle by first-round knockout in only 29 seconds last August. During his six-fight roll, he has been an underdog three times. Brown was a +280 ‘dog in his dominant victory over Jordan Mein via second-round KO last year.

Silva has lost three UFC fights in the ‘chalk’ role, including setbacks against Carlos Prater (-500), Jon Fitch (-175) and Dong Hyun-Kim (-200). Those defeats cost Silva backers nearly nine units.

I’m surprised to see Brown as an underdog in this fight. As a generous underdog? I’m shocked! And I love Brown. Get on it when you can because I suspect the odds move back the other way.
