When the UFC announced Tuesday that Jose Aldo and Rampage Jackson were out of the main event and co-main event of UFC 153, the promotion was really under the gun.

Following the cancellation of UFC 151, Dana White knew he had work to do. And that’s exactly what he did – as usual.

In a stunning move that took only 24 hours to materialize, the UFC’s biggest star, Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva, accepted a fight to take on Stephan Bonnar in an extremely interesting bout on short notice for both men.

Silva will move up to the light heavyweight division for this fight. The middleweight champion has gone up to the 205-pound loop twice previously, scoring first-round knockouts against James Irvin and Forrest Griffin.

Bonnar has won three consecutive fights, capturing a unanimous-decision victory over Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 139 in his most recent Octagon appearance.

As of early Thursday night, 5Dimes had Silva installed as an enormous -1050 ‘chalk’ vs. Bonnar, who is a 6/1 underdog.

In the co-main event, Glover Teixeira will face Fabio Maldonado. Also, Brazilian Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been added to the card and will meet Dave Herman in a heavyweight clash.

In other UFC news, Alan ‘The Talent’ Belcher vs. Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami has been added to the UFC 155 card.
